Dr. Higgins will recommend early treatment (when there are still baby teeth present) only when it is necessary; to either make room for erupting adult teeth or if it will significantly reduce the treatment time in full braces. It there is a crossbite of the back teeth due to a narrow upper jaw, we may recommend early expansion of the upper jaw. If the lower teeth are significantly ahead of the upper teeth, we usually recommend early treatment to encourage the forward growth of the upper jaw.

Dr. Higgins recommends early treatment only when it will reduce the complexity or duration of future treatment.
